What this site is

It's your family tree, built from real records — registers, certificates, books, and research — with every fact graded by how well the records back it. It grows as your family learns more.

Finding your way around

Chart — the family tree, centered on one person's lineage (ancestors above, descendants below, in-laws at each marriage). Tap anyone to see their story, then Center on this person to re-center the chart on them — that's how you walk out to an in-law family. Use ⌂ Home Person to jump straight back to your own starting point, or See everyone for the whole tree at once. Drag to move, pinch or scroll to zoom.
Your home person — whoever you'd like the chart to come back to (yourself, or the ancestor you're working on). Tap someone, then ☆ Set as home; they're marked with a ★ on the chart from then on, and ⌂ Home Person brings you back to them. Their panel shows ★ Home person so you can tell it took, with a Clear button if you'd rather go back to the standard starting point.
How are two people related? — tap that button, then tap any two people and the chart tells you in plain English (“great-grandfather”, “second cousin once removed”). And with someone selected, the Highlight menu lights up all of their cousins, aunts & uncles, grandparents, and more at a glance. Documents — the records behind the tree. Some are marked unverified — interesting, but not proven yet. Search — the box on the Home page looks through every person in the tree. Try a maiden name or a town.

What the A, B, C badges mean

Every person carries a small colored badge that says how solid the facts are:

ABacked by real records — a register, official documents, primary sources. Solid ground.
BMultiple sources agree, but we'd like one more record to be sure.
CFamily story or a guess — could be true, not proven. Treat it as a lead, not a fact.

Reading a person's page

Tap anyone in the chart (or a search result) and you'll see: when and where they were born and died, their parents, spouses, children and siblings, and the sources — where each fact came from. A red box of open research questions means the answer is still being hunted — if you know something, that's exactly where you can help. Half-siblings are grouped by parent so blended families read clearly.

Adding what you know

On any person's page you'll find these buttons:

Suggest an edit — fix a date, add a place, correct a spelling, add a nickname, or set the relationships: mother, father, spouse(s), and children (a parent doesn't have to be a spouse).
⚑ Flag a fact — think something's wrong but don't know the right answer? Say so and it gets looked into. Tick whatever looks off — as many as you like, and OTHER if it's not on the list — and that's enough on its own: the notes box is optional. "The birth date looks wrong, I don't know why" is a perfectly good report, and exactly the kind we want.
+ Parent / + Partner / + Child / + Sibling — add someone who's missing. A sibling shares a parent, so you can pick which parent(s) they share (both = full sibling, one = half-sibling).

Two things worth knowing about these forms. Wherever you're asked to choose a person, type a few letters of their name and pick them from the list — you don't have to scroll through everybody, and you can search by a maiden name too. And when you tap Save, the form closes by itself and a short note confirms it — you don't need to close anything afterwards. If you close a form with the × while you still have something typed, it always asks first, so you can't lose work by accident.

Here's the important part: nothing you submit changes the site right away. Everything goes to your tree's admin for review first. If something's off, it simply doesn't go in — so you can't break anything, duplicate anyone, or mess up the tree. Add freely — your name comes from your sign-in, so the admin always knows who to thank (and who to ask follow-up questions!).

Have a whole tree already? On the home page, open Family tools → Import a research file. Paste or upload a formatted file and everyone in it arrives as one batch in the review queue — the same review, just in bulk, with each person's facts, sources, confidence grade, and any cautions carried across. The import guide has a ready-made prompt you can hand to your own AI to format your notes for you.
